Community

Through our donation program we are able to contribute to many local organizations.

Six Flags Great Escape Resort is pleased to support the work of many local organizations that continually influence our cities making them a better place to live, work and play. The following list is a small sampling of our efforts:

Donors and volunteers at The Great Escape

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Six Flags Great Escape Resort is proud to partner with the American Red Cross by hosting annual blood drives in the Spring and Fall each year at The Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark. Over the last 4 years, the hundreds of donors at these events have made a significant impact throughout their community, as each pint of blood collected helps save up to three lives, and our events have collected over 350 pints of blood which equals a potential for over 1,000 lives saved!

Project 6 Day of Service

Through our annual Project 6 Day of Service, Six Flags Great Escape is able to contribute vital assistance to an individual, family, or non-profit organization in the community to help reach their goals.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation had enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. Six Flags Great Escape is proud to be a part of this amazing wish-granting organization and is excited to fulfill the wishes of children who dream of visiting the park.

South High Marathon Dance

Going on 45 years strong, this South Glens Falls Senior High School student-driven fundraising event is a non-stop dance celebration of support to recognized individuals, families, and charity organizations receiving contributions from this annual event. For over a decade, Six Flags Great Escape Resort has supported the South High Marathon Dance through resources and generous donations of funds from entertaining fundraising opportunities with staff that take place at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

JDRF is the largest nonprofit organization that funds type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, provides a broad array of community and services to the T1D population, as well as actively advocates for regulation favorable to medical research and approval of new and improved treatment modalities.

YMCA of Glens Falls

Glens Falls YMCA was organized in 1887 by a group of men from the local community in response to the need to keep young men busy and out of mischief. Today the YMCA serves over 20,000 people and is committed to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

United Way

Works with dozens of agencies and charitable organizations in Warren, Washington, and Northern Saratoga Counties to pool efforts in fundraising and support. By collaborating with a network of local non-profit organizations, Tri-County United Way delivers critical services and increases the power of our local charities. Tri-County United Way inspires hope, improving lives, and creating opportunities in the Tri-Country region every day.

Double H Ranch

The Double H Ranch, founded by Charles R. Wood and actor Paul Newman, provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. These children are precluded from attending other camps but can attend the Double H because of the high-quality medical care they receive while in attendance. The Ranch also offers family-based support weekends in the spring and fall for families facing critical illnesses and the loss of loved ones. All programs are completely FREE OF CHARGE. Six Flags Friends is privileged to open our hearts and the gates of The Great Escape to the children of the Double H Ranch each week during our operating season. In addition, Six Flags Friends is proud to host the Double H Ranch Gala at The Great Escape each summer.

For more information on the Gala, please call Robin DeMattos at the Double H Ranch Development Office at 518-696-5921 ext. 228.
